The Research Centre

Nimbus Centre at Cork Institute of Technology was established in 2007, funded by the HEA Programme for Research in Third-Level Institutions (PRTLI-4). However, our research activity started in 2000 and had built to a group of 45 researchers by 2007.

At Nimbus Centre our research focuses on Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) and Internet of Things (IoT) applications. CPS are known for their application in the IoT, connecting physical things to the Internet. This allows sensing, monitoring and control of the physical world, and it is one of the fastest growing areas for CPS. CPS also embrace wider applications in areas such as energy, industry, the built environment and water systems where secure, high performance, high reliability monitoring and control are mission-critical.
