Alex joined Nimbus Centre to work as a Senior Software Java Developer and Architect.
After gaining an MEng in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Thessaloniki, Greece, Alex completed his MPhil and PhD in Spatio-temporal databases at UMIST, Manchester in 1999. His next position was in the Politechnico in Milan for a one-year postdoc tenure and then back to London to work in industry building e-commerce, mobile and betting applications based on J2EE/Oracle.
In 2006, he moved back to Greece where he taught as a part-time lecturer in the University of Macedonia while building server and web-based applications for health management, e-learning, newspaper management and IPTV.
His research interests are e-learning, applying IT in medicine, and cloud computing.
In Nimbus Centre he is involved in health related projects (assisted living, management of healthcare) and e-learning (assessment tools).
He enjoys history and one of this long term plans is to get a better grasp of local and Irish history past and present.
