The Manpower Project is a European consortium engaging in research into new materials and devices that will facilitate extraction and storage of energy from a beating heart to power a pacemaker. The Project will target the development of perpetually self-powered, electronic systems that can be implanted into the human body, thus removing the requirement for a battery replacement. The Nimbus centre are involved in developing this technology.
