The My Big Friendly Guide To The European Union (BFGtoEU) website is based on the programme developed by Trish Collier, primary school teacher, and Emmanuelle Schön-Quinlivan, UCC college lecturer. The website provides Irish Primary schools teachers with educational e-learning resources required to teach Irish Primary School Students (ages 5-12) about the European Union (EU) and Ireland’s relationship with it.

A team of UX/UI designers, e-learning and software developers from the Nimbus Centre worked closely with Trish and Emmanuelle to develop the website. The online platform was integrated with a Learning Management System, which enables the management and delivery of e-learning content and tools (lessons plans, training videos, interactive games, quizzes and classroom learning resources).

Come join us to celebrate the launch of this new innovative website gathering teaching tools and ideas on Ireland and the European Union for primary school teachers. It will be an evening of discovery for teachers, children and parents: a children-led way of discussing Ireland and the EU.

This programme was funded by Erasmus + and was piloted exclusively in a selection of primary schools in Cork City and County.

The website offers children an opportunity to engage in interactive games, aimed at improving their knowledge and understanding of the EU.

UCC’s President, Patrick O’Shea, and MEP Deirdre Clune will officially launch the website and we will have a social gathering afterwards. Children are most welcome and there will be a room dedicated to them where they can play, colour or watch a movie.

We hope to see you there Friday April 5th in UCC.
