Bio

Quang An Phan is a researcher at the Nimbus research centre with interests including renewable energy, micro-grids, energy management and system optimisation methodologies. In 2006, Quang An received his BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, Vietnam. In 2007, having received a French Embassy scholarship he completed his Masters degree in Electrical Engineering at the Institute National Polytechnique de Toulouse, France. His thesis comprised a study by simulation of a hybrid photovoltaic (PV) system. Subsequently, after being awarded a RíSAM PhD scholarship, he has completed his doctorate in Energy Management from the Cork Institute of Technology (CIT), Ireland, in 2020 with a thesis on developing optimisation methodologies for a micro-grid integrated with renewable energy sources and auxiliary battery backup supply.

He currently forms part of the Data Analytics team within Nimbus with expertise in MATLAB, Python, battery modelling, parameter forecasting, system scheduling, micro-grid optimisation and AI trustworthiness.
