Call for Papers

The 1st International Workshop on Smart Solutions for Security and Privacy in the Edge-Cloud Continuum (S3PEC) invites researchers, practitioners, and industry professionals to submit their original research work in the areas of smart and secure computing solutions. This workshop is held in conjunction with SMARTCOMP 2025, providing a unique opportunity to engage with the growing community at the forefront of IoT, Edge, and Cloud computing.

With the rapid deployment and integration of IoT, Edge, and Cloud computing technologies, the challenges related to cybersecurity and data privacy have become increasingly complex. The SMARTCOMP community is ideally positioned to address these issues by exploring solutions that ensure robust and scalable security across interconnected environments. This workshop provides a dedicated forum to exchange insights, collaborate on innovative approaches, and explore cutting-edge technologies in securing distributed and heterogeneous computing infrastructures.

Focus and Objectives

Unlike general IoT or Cloud security conferences, S3PEC focuses on the unique integration of AI-driven security solutions and privacy-preserving mechanisms tailored to the SMARTCOMP ecosystem. We encourage submissions that not only propose novel theoretical approaches but also demonstrate practical implementations, case studies, and real-world applications in addressing the following key challenges:

This workshop aims to attract a broad audience, including:

By bringing together experts from diverse disciplines, S3PEC fosters discussions on practical and theoretical advancements, bridging the gap between academic research and industry needs.

Topics of Interest

We invite submissions on topics including, but not limited to:

Submission Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit technical or theoretical papers for presentation at the workshop, describing original, previously unpublished work, which is not currently under review by another workshop, conference, or journal. Papers should present novel perspectives within the general scope of the workshop. Accepted workshop papers will be included and indexed in the IEEE digital libraries (Xplore).

Paper Format: Papers may be no more than 6 pages in length. Papers above the page limits will not be considered for review or publication. All papers must be typeset in double-column IEEE format using 10pt fonts on US letter paper, with all fonts embedded. The IEEE LaTeX and Microsoft Word templates, as well as related information, can be found on the IEEE website.

Submission Link: Paper Registration and Submission must be made via EDAS

It is a requirement that all the authors listed in the submitted paper are also listed in EDAS. The author section of EDAS will be locked after the workshop submission deadline to ensure that conflict of interest can be properly enforced during the review process. If the list of authors differs between the paper and EDAS, the paper may not be reviewed. Each accepted workshop paper requires a full SMARTCOMP registration (no registration is available for workshops only) and in-person presentation. Papers that are not presented at the workshop will not be published in the proceedings.

Workshop Schedule

To be updated soon.

Registration

Each accepted workshop paper requires a full SMARTCOMP registration, as workshop-only registration is not available. Registration details can be found at the provided link: https://www.cs.ucc.ie/smartcomp2025/.

Accepted papers must be presented in person by at least one author with a corresponding full registration. Failure to comply with this requirement will result in the exclusion of the paper from the final proceedings, the conference program, and from the IEEE Digital Library.
